Simulation of segmental chip formation when high-speed cutting steels and titanium alloys

The main reason for chip segmentation in high-speed cutting is the instability of the elastic-plastic deformation process of the processed material in the shear plane. The most significant technological factors affecting the character of chip formation in the turning of high-strength steels and titanium alloys are determined. The standard software DEFORM 2D have been used for modeling chip formation while orthogonal cutting.
