Cutting tool solutions for robotic milling

In present paper, a mathematical model of.cutting tool designed for specific conditions of robotic milling characterized by low stiffness of technological system, is given. The optimal distribution of load with direction of cutting force directed largely towards the spindle is provided by crossed bidirectional teeth of cutter having a zone of crossing flutes which helps to produce the best load conditions. The experimental data of milling the austenite stainless steel using traditional strategy and high-speed trochoidal strategy is presented. It is shown that the trochoidal strategy provides significant reduction of cutting force with increased productivity of cutting.
