High-speed spindle bearings for modern machines

The article describes special aspects of various spindle bearings employment and their performance standards. It is shown that in spite of certain advantages of non-contact bearings on a range of technical and economic parameters the most efficient type is roller bearing. The paper gives a detailed analysis of the main ways to improve bearing designs, applied for high-speed cutting.
