Research of wear resistance and strength of turning cutting inserts made of a new composite ceramic material

We have developed the new composite ceramic material Al2O3-SiCw-TiC with enhanced physical and mechanical properties obtained by spark plasma sintering and recommended for use as an instrumental material. We have performed simulations and experimental tests of wear resistance and strength of turning cutting inserts made of the new ceramic material when machining work-pieces made of hardened steel ШХ15.
